I watched in amazement last night the election returns from Massachusetts. In Senator-Elect Brown's victory speech, he said that his campaign began with a home-made road sign and a few neighbors and ended with an emergency Air Force One flight to Logan Airport to support Coakley's floundering campaign and his ultimate election to the U.S. Senate against overwhelming odds. This unseeming reality reminded me of the opposition movement against government-run healthcare. The movement started with angry citizens, who called their members of Congress and Senators, who gathered in groups at town hall meetings and tea parties, who rallied in the millions on the Capitol steps, and facing almost certain death on the government healthcare battlefield, rallied at the ballot box in MA, overcoming extraordinary political odds to stop the healthcare monstrosity in its tracks. The system works. Independents in MA came to our rescue and delivered a fatal blow to the out-of-control political machine in Washington. Congratulations to Scott Brown, the people of Massachusetts, and the people of our great Nation for this overwhelming victory.

The security threats of the 21st century are complex, asymmetrical, and intertwined with almost every phase of American life. Everything from the stability of commodities markets and infrastructure, to the security of our borders, to the defense of our homeland and allies depends on America’s unparalleled military strength and resolve.
Many of our brave servicemen and women have made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety of our Country by giving their lives in Iraq, Afghanistan, and even here at home at the hands of terrorism. We must always remember that our everyday freedoms were not "free." They were paid for by those Veterans and Patriots who have served our Country honorably since the Revolutionary War.
Today, shake a Veteran's hand and thank him or her for your freedom. Remember Veterans and their families in your prayers. Remind your elected officials that our freedom should not be squandered through unconstitutional legislation that empowers big government over people. Our freedom is worth fighting for.

To the detriment of America, I believe that PelosiCare will pass the House by a slim margin this weekend. To fail in passing what Rep. Bachmann calls the "Crown Jewel of Socialism" is simply not palatable for liberal Democrats and the Administration. They will pass it despite the people's opposition, and Blue Dogs will work on damage control in the months to follow as the Senate takes it up.
We know that the AARP and the AMA have always been in the pocket of big government, and their endorsements were expected. I can assure you that most doctors don't want this. We want tax credits for health insurance, indexed to income, and we want reasonable reimbursement for our services and tort reform. These measures will increase access to quality care and build trust between doctors and patients.
Congress should be more focused on our jobless economy (10.2% unemployment) at this point. What incentive will there be to find jobs if everything, including health care, is provided by the government?
Call Congress and express your opposition today. Make your voices heard! We must also think ahead in case this disastrous bill moves forward. At this point, reasonable "Republicans," "Conservatives," Democrats, and Patriots should join forces and plan a measured, peaceful response to this unconstitutional legislation.
